Our very own mindreader for the night, Paul Hamilton, who’ll be mingling with us, and amazing us with his powers of perception!

Our official photographer, One Big Picture (@onebigpicture). One Big Picture logo

The fantastic companies who’ve donated prizes for the raffle and auction:

100 Paper Boats - who will play a private gig, and write a song for you

Citizens Theatre (@citizenstheatre)- who’ve given us a pair of tickets to ‘One Million Tiny Plays About Britain’

The official photographer on the night is One Big Picture, who’ll be asking you all to pose for your very own portrait with the Twitter bird. Here’s Marc from One Big Picture:

When Stuart asked me would I photograph the Glasgow Twestival as official photographer, I didn’t really know what to say. But of course, it was an offer I couldn’t refuse. I’m absolutely delighted to be a part of the Twestival experience, I thoroughly enjoyed the last one. Rather than just turn up and snap away, I have actually structured it somewhat. Here’s what’s going to happen:

I’ve had produced a large Twestival logo thanks to @DESIGNLINE_ The plan is to get people as they arrive, whether they’re an individual, couple or group, to hold the logo up and strike a pose! I’ll then float about during the night and capture the essence of the Glasgow Twestival. The following day, I’ll get to work, go through all the images and get them uploaded to my website where you’ll not only be able to view them all, but will also have the option to purchase them with 80% going straight to the Twestival charity @concern Look out for mini MOO cards at the Twestival that will tell you the website address and the password. We’ll also tweet about it once they’re live.

I hope you all have a fantastic time on Thursday night, make sure you come and follow us @onebigpicture

100 Paper Boats, playing at the glasgow twestival

100 Paper Boats, playing at the glasgow twestival

Here’s a word from another of the bands playing at the Glasgow Twestival, 100 Paper Boats:

@we100PaperBoats are an up and coming acoustic/indie four-piece from the aptly name seaside town Gou-ROCK… And we are David, Euan, Stuart and Ed.

Formed last summer out of sheer boredom and lack of money the ex school friends began writing their own music with no intention of success but soon found an emerging need to portray their hugely insignificant problems to the world. 100 paper boats are looking forward to playing at Glasgow Twestival on the back of their hugely successful support slot for the Singing Kettles Scottish tour (we jest!). Check them out on facebook. You can also catch a few videos on YouTube.

Not only do you get to hear us play, but we’ve also put a couple of auction prizes up for some lucky winners to enjoy! Firstly, we’ll play in the living room of the highest bidder. And secondly, one lucky person will win a song written and performed by us too! They just tell us what they want it to be called, what they want it to be about – romantic, heavy, whatever – then we’ll go away and pull it together. It could be for a birthday party or something.

We’d just like to show you this

Posted on: 23 March 2010 at 2254 - Comment

Yes, it would appear that, once we take into account the fact that your donations are being matched dollar-for-dollar (up to $100,000 USD - thanks Entrepreneurs Foundation of Central Texas), Glasgow is currently beating Edinburgh in terms of actual amounts raised… a little friendly competition never hurt anyone, right?

So a full 48 hours before we kick off the Glasgow Twestival, we have hit our target! There’s some technical jiggery-pokery which needs to take place before this amount appears on the totaliser/thermometer shown above, but rest assured, WE’VE DONE IT! But we want to do more.

If you can’t attend, please donate using the widget to the right of this post. If you can attend, but haven’t bought your ticket, please get it here. Buy one for a friend. Buy one for someone you don’t like! If you’re a business and you’d like to introduce your clients to the power of social media, buy a load of tickets! We’ll even offer you a group discount if you ask nicely! Just tweet @GTwestival!

We’ll be having a drink or two on the night to celebrate the fact that we’ve hit our target. Join us.

Oh, and if you’d like to check our stats on this matter - we’re looking at you, Edinburgh, check them out here. They’re the official Twestival stats. The Twestival bean counters work very hard on this, you know!

Epic26’s epic journey

Posted on: 22 March 2010 at 0820 - Comment

Hello Everybody! @Epic26 here to announce that we will be doing a wee Twestival challenge for this year’s events. We’re going to play all three of Scotland’s Twestivals…in one night; or die trying!

We were very fortunate to have been able to help the previous Twestival causes by playing the first two Edinburgh events. Our hope is that our mad dash across Scotland will help to draw attention to this year’s charity, Concern.

Kicking off our Triple Twestival Tour with a bang will be a live performance at the Glasgow
Twestival, being held at The Lansdowne Bar & Kitchen. Then its a sprint North, where we’re very pleased to be appearing at the first Dundee Twestival at Dexters Lounge Bar. The final leg is homeward to the Edinburgh Twestival, being held this year at brand new venue, Ghillie Dhu.

You can of course follow our journey @Epic26 and we will need all your well wishes for us
to complete our challenge.

So make sure you get your tickets for your local Twestival before they are all sold out. We
will (hopefully) see you there, there and indeed there!

Allan, Nick, Kelvin, Euan & Martin
Epic26

Introducing the bands and acts…

Posted on: at 1719 - Comment

Hello Tweegies!

We can now announce the bands and acts who will be playing at Gtwestival [drum roll]:

First up, and planning to play THREE Twestivals in one night, it’s the one, it’s the only…Epic 26! If you want to know what you’re in for, you can take a look at their site, or find them on Twitter and MySpace. After they’ve wowed us in Glasgow, they’ll be heading off to the Edinburgh and Dundee Twestivals.

And next up, for your listening pleasure, we’re thrilled to announce that 100 Paper Boats will be playing! You can find them on both Twitter and Facebook.

And now, for your aural entertainment, heeeeeeerrrrrreeee’s Kessel! Check them out on their site, or on Twitter, Facebook and MySpace.

And let’s have a big hand for our DJ of the evening, it’s David Johnstone - or perhaps you know him better as one half of Alternative. You can follow him on Twitter. And he’s also on Facebook and MySpace.

And for the quiet bits in between all of that, we’ve started a Spotify playlist where you can line up the tracks you’d like to hear. So add your requests now!

Please Don’t Stop The Music

Posted on: 13 March 2010 at 1509 - Comment

We’ll be announcing the lineup for the night at some point on Monday, but until then, we thought we’d share something just a little bit special with you: a Spotify playlist.

We’ve decided this time around to have a limited number of live acts - this will allow people to mingle and actually hold real-life conversations with people they’ve met through Twitter. So, rather than have no music at all, or a selection of music picked by us, we’ve decided to open it up to you. Would you like to hear some @pink, or would you prefer some @iamdiddy? It’s (almost) completely up to you. We’ll keep an eye on it to ensure that nothing too sweary gets played, but we’ll keep not interfere too much (unless you pick The Cheeky Girls!).

To contribute, all you need to do is:

  1. Download Spotify.
  2. Open the playlist.
  3. Add a song to the playlist.
  4. Job done
That’s it! Those of you with Spotify Mobile should also be able to add songs on the night!
Have fun!
