4 reasons to come to Glasgow #Twestival

Posted on: 8 September 2009 at 1253 - Comment

Not got your Glasgow Twestival tickets yet?

Here’s four great reasons you should make it along to The Living Room Glasgow on Thursday 10th September…

1. It’s the best place to meet all those people you’ve only ever seen a tiny avatar of and spoken to in 140 characters. There’s well over 100 tweegies (and counting) coming to the event!

2. There’s a truly phenomenal selection of live music planned for the night.

3. The list of prizes you can win at the raffle and auction is mind boggling!

4. It’s all for a great cause. 8000 people voted to choose the official Glasgow Twestival charity and asthma charity No Strings Attached Scotland came out on top. Every penny we raise on the night goes to this fantastic cause so dig deep tweegies!

You can get your tickets for just £7 if you use the discount code ‘tweegies’ when purchasing them from Amiando.

And the winner is…

Posted on: 6 August 2009 at 1302 - Comment

Whoever thought choosing the Glasgow Twestival Local charity would be dull was wrong. Over 8000 ‘tweegies’ voted. A three horse race broke out between Quarriers, CHAS and No Strings Attached. Launched in May 2009, No Strings Attached won the competition with a staggering 2868 votes.

The Glasgow charity works in association with the Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama and the health profession to help young people better manage their asthma and develop confidence through music and the arts. The charity will receive all funds raised from the event, allowing them to work with even more young people in the coming months.

Hosted by Clyde 1’s twitter fanatic Colin Kelly the Glasgow Twestival is shaping up to be something really special. We’ll be announcing more live acts and amazing prizes over the next few weeks so keep your eyes peeled tweegies.

There’s only a few early-bird tickets left: www.glasgowtwestival.co.uk

The tweegies are coming

Posted on: 21 July 2009 at 1348 - Comment

Tweegies Logo

When the opportunity to organise Glasgow Twestival Local came up I nobly foolishly volunteered. A couple of weeks on we have a motley crew of tweegies with expertise in event management, social media, PR, marketing, sound & video and much more, all ready to make this event something special.

Globally the last Twestival raised a staggering $250k for Charity:Water. This time it’s all about local causes.

Us #tweegies have decided to let the twittersphere decide which charity will walk away with the funds raised. You can vote and/or nominate your chosen cause on our UserVoice page. There’s some high profile causes on there already, such as ENABLE Scotland, Quarriers and the Big Issue Foundation along with some smaller charities, namely No Strings Attached and Glasgow Women’s Library. Voting ends at 12pm on 31st July.

The event itself will feature the finest local musical talent. Glasgow band Any Color Black are the first act to get involved and we’ll be announcing more over the next few weeks. We’ll also have a raffle, auction and a few other surprises on the night.

We’ve already secured some great prizes from @mckayflooring, @zungalow, @makingthenews and @alienation_ If anyone would like to donate a prize for the raffle or auction drop me an email: ross[@]thirdsectorlab.co.uk
